Our School
South Dorchester Public School is a community school built in 1966. The original building had eight classrooms and a gymnasium. In 1968-69 an additional two more classrooms were added. Further construction was completed in the fall of 2013 to welcome our 2 new full day Kindergarten classrooms. The school serves a population of about three hundred and fifty students from Junior Kindergarten to Grade Eight. Our school is located on the Crossley-Hunter Line between Highway 73 and 74. We serve the students of Belmont and Lyons as well as surrounding farms. All students are bused to the school on one of six busses.
The school has a tradition of excellence and high standards. We believe in the importance of parent and community partners as we develop our children to become lifelong learners and responsible and caring citizens. Our school colours are Blue and White and we are proudly known as "Stampeders".
